When is the Event in 2017?
Our 2017 event will be held on Sunday 10th September 2017, starting and finishing at Roose Conservative Club.
Our aim is for you to ENJOY this event, to have a great day out, to soak up the delights of the Furness area. At the same time through the Rotary Club of Furness, you will be helping to raise money to support St. Mary’s Hospice, Rotary charities or a charity of your choice.
Who Can Enter?
As long as you are over 10 years of age, of average fitness and with a bike in roadworthy condition, you can enter the 13, 25 and 50 mile routes.
Anyone under 16 yrs must be accompanied by an adult. Children should be 5 years and over for the Family Fun Ride. Why not form a team with friends or work colleagues and make a day of it?
How do I Enter?
Our prefered method is to enter by registering on line. Alternately, paper entry forms will be available from early May at many outlets in the Furness area, including TOPMARK (see below) or a PDF version can be downloaded here.
This year we are using a Cumbrian Company for our ONLINE Entries, they have lots of experience handling events such as our giving us additional facilities, not only can you enter on line, but edit your entry if you wish to do so and also check on if your friends have entered or just to see who has entered (on line). Our usual ride counter (see home page) will give you the complete picture of online + paper entrants.
Or, you can enter the old fashioned way.
To enter simply complete the form and send it, together with your registration fee.
We will then send you an official pack containing route details, a sponsorship form and rider information.
Your start time, will be sent to you nearer the event date.

What Rules must be observed?
Whilst we hope that everyone will have fun on the day, your safety and that of other road users is paramount. We ask you to observe a few rules:
- Don’t ride more than two abreast. Keep your distance from the bike in front and don’t attempt any dangerous stunts or overtaking.
- Make sure you look behind before moving out and be sure to signal your intentions to stop or turn to other cyclists & drivers.
- If you spot an accident, ensure that a Marshal is informed as quickly as possible. They will be stationed along the route and there will be additional cars on patrol. Make sure that someone stays with any injured person. If the accident is serious, call an ambulance.
- Please make sure your bicycle is in good working order before you set out. If you break down, get off the highway & get a message to a Marshal or patrol car.
All riders must wear a helmet at all times during the ride.
The Tour de Furness will take you through some of the most attractive areas of South Lakeland. Please help to keep them that way.
